I am a dancer — excited about dancing and living an artistic journey.
I am Rachele Perla, a performer and artist living in New York City.
My journey as a professional artist has been fully embraced by the New York City freelance life. I began my professional career with New Chamber Ballet, a New York based company directed by Miro Magloire. In supplement to this full time company commitment, I have reached the community by teaching and working with young dancers as well as dancing with other choreographers in and around the city. The vast opportunities of living in New York City for the past five years has also given me the opportunity to study with incredible master teachers and choreographers of a wide range of styles and techniques.
I am a recent graduate of the Ailey/Fordham BFA Program, under the direction of Melanie Person. Prior to my college studies, I graduated from Boston Ballet School’s Pre-Professional Program under the direction of Margaret Tracey.
As an artist, the most rewarding part for me comes from performing onstage and impacting an audience. I have learned the significance of connecting to an audience through performing with New Chamber Ballet in the round with live music. The opportunities at Alvin Ailey take my performance experience to incorporate a range of genres. I have performed original works by Amy Hall Garner, Adam Barruch, Maxine Steinman, Sonia Dawkins, and Levi Marsman. Additional performance opportunities include works by Alvin Ailey and student choreography. I have also had the opportunity to create original work on underclassman, performed in the Ailey/Fordham Senior Choreography Concert.
My training at the Ailey School has opened my eyes to the importance of well-trained and well-rounded dancers. My time at Boston Ballet has helped me to understand that even the most classical of companies require their dancers to move in new, contemporary, and avant-garde ways. My academic studies at Fordham University has given me an understanding of the wider world of subjects and their interconnectivity. As I near the end of my training, I am seeking opportunities to continue to collaborate with creative artists, expand my physical knowledge with exposure to new styles and repertoire, and continue the career-long journey of improving my technique.
